The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree is designed for healthcare professionals who want to advance their careers and take on leadership roles in their organizations. The MHA Program develops dynamic, effective leaders who serve and advance the healthcare and well-being of people, organizations and communities by transforming health services.

Leaders in healthcare, especially those that work in Catholic and nonprofit health services, such as clinics, private practices or consulting firms, develop strategies and make decisions that impact hundreds to thousands of staff and patients. Students will become effective leaders providing high-quality health services delivery, information analytics, strategy, business development, quality, finances, patient and people engagement within diverse teams, and community collaboration.

According to AUPHA, decisions made by healthcare executives can help improve life for hundreds, even thousands of people every day. Healthcare executives have a sense of social mission 鈥� they deeply care about the people they work with and serve. The U.S. is seeing growth in healthcare leadership to effectively manage the business of healthcare delivery and finances and work effectively with diverse teams.

The basic curriculum for our Master鈥檚 in Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree addresses three principal areas:

Study of management theory, concepts and skills. Broadly defined, the program will assist students with competency development in leadership, human resources, financial management, economics, medical technology, legal aspects, organizational behavior, quantitative research methods, strategic thinking and planning, and innovation.
Study of the healthcare industry, including health services, public health, health and human behavior, health information and data analytics, and health and medical care organizations.
Demonstration of integration of course material through application of management concepts to the healthcare industry in a major project, paper or exam.

Eligibility

New Students

BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Note: Meeting minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission.

Returning Students

A returning student is a student who was admitted and enrolled in a program at St. Scholastica but has been absent from the program for at least three continuous semesters, including summer. To return to the same program at St. Scholastica, a returning student must be in good academic standing and must apply for readmission to the College.
