This certificate program is designed for licensed teachers who are seeking additional licensure in reading to expand and deepen knowledge of best practices in K-12 literacy and literacy leadership. The program is aligned with Minnesota K-12 Reading Teacher licensure standards, but will be helpful to those from other states as well.

You will learn literacy strategies that support all learners, including those with disabilities or those who respond to different instructional approaches. You will be able to assist kindergarten through grade 12 learners to improve their reading comprehension.

The program also prepares students to develop skills needed to become K12 literacy leaders, such as selection of materials, integrating technology, school-wide organizational structures and literacy instructional coaching.

As a student, you may take one or two classes per term and complete the program in up to a year and a half. Meet with your admissions counselor to develop a program path that works for you.
